Area of expertise: o Environmental assessments, permitting, and project management o Site remediation, reclamation, and hydrogeological engineering o Fisheries Biology and Habitat Assessment, Aquatic Ecology, and Aquatic Effects Monitoring o Hazardous Building Materials assessments and abatement planning 2 CURRENT OPPORTUNITY We are currently seeking a Senior Fisheries Biologist to lead and grow our aquatic practice across the BC Interior and Kootenays. This is a senior leadership position for someone who wants to do meaningful technical work, build a team, develop client relationships, and help shape the direction of our biosciences practice. This role will be supported by senior biologists and other senior professionals across the company. Ideal Candidate: o Registered Professional Biologist in good standing, with 10+ years of BC consulting experience in freshwater fisheries (salmon and trout) and aquatic ecology. o Proven experience in aquatic, riparian, and wildlife assessments, fish habitat evaluations, permitting, and compliance, including metal and diamond mining projects. o Solid knowledge of the Fisheries Act, Metal and Diamond Mining Effluent Regulation, BC Water Sustainability Act, and Species at Risk Act o Extensive experience designing and implementing environmental surveys, impact assessments, and monitoring programs across diverse ecosystems. o Demonstrated ability to support business growth by building and maintaining strong client relationships and industry contacts, including experience working with Indigenous Governments and regulatory agencies. o Strong leadership: managing budgets, multi-disciplinary teams, and field programs, with field training experience. o Excellent communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and communicate complex environmental data. Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to: Technical o Lead design and implementation of fish and aquatic programs across natural resource projects, including mining. o Oversee comprehensive habitat assessments, wildlife surveys, aquatic effects reporting, fish and amphibian salvage, and long-term monitoring programs ensuring accurate data collection and high-quality reporting. Project & Business Development o Manage multi-disciplinary projects, budgets, and regulatory compliance. o Prepare proposals and cost estimates, delivering technical reports and obtaining regulatory approvals. o Build and cultivate long-term relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, Indigenous Governments, and stakeholders. Mentorship o Supervise and mentor a team of junior and intermediate biologists by providing direction in fisheries and aquatic assessments, including electrofishing and work under the Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR). o Foster a collaborative, safety-first team culture with strong project management resources available. 3 PAY BENEFITS & HOURS This will be permanent full-time salary position, with four weeks paid annual vacation. We anticipate a beginning salary of $100,000 - $160,000 per year, dependent on qualifications and experience.
