Job Title: Senior QA Analyst – Banking & Capital Calculations (Regulatory Reporting)
Business group: Global Finance & Risk Technology – HM’s team is 20-22 employees, they do capital calculations for the Bank and perform regulatory reporting – mix of Dev/QAs – full stack, various technologies and ongoing initiatives and projects
Project: IRB Model Adoption – the Bank is going towards an internal rate-based model for some products as mandated by the OSFI regulators; initial phase this month
Responsibilities:
• Perform end-to-end QA and data validation for Banking and Capital Calculations regulatory reporting systems
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency for Basel III and OSFI regulatory reports including BCAR, NCR, Pillar III and LRR
• Develop and execute test strategies, test plans, and test cases for complex financial and regulatory datasets
• Perform data-level QA using complex SQL queries to validate source-to-target mappings and calculations
• Collaborate with business analysts, regulatory SMEs, data engineers, and developers to understand regulatory logic and testing requirements
• Identify, document, and track defects through resolution, ensuring regulatory compliance
• Participate in regulatory audits, reviews, and validation exercises
• Automate regression and data validation tests using Python-based frameworks (where applicable)
• Leverage automation tools and GitHub Copilot to improve QA productivity and coverage
• Ensure alignment with data governance, controls, and regulatory change management processes
• Mostly an automation based role
Candidate Requirements:
1) 10+ years’ experience in QA/testing/automation, with at least 8+ years within Banking or Capital Calculations
2) 8+ years’ strong hands-on experience with Basel III regulatory reporting
3) Strong understanding of financial products, risk metrics, and regulatory calculations
4) 3+ years’ extensive experience in data-centric QA automation and validation
5) 5+ years’ advanced SQL experience (joins, subqueries, aggregations, performance tuning)
Nice-To-Have Skills:
1) Experience as a QA Lead – having led at least 1 automation project
2) Strong experience validating large regulatory and financial datasets
3) Ability to automate QA testing using Python
4) Experience using GitHub Copilot to accelerate test development and automation
5) Defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM)
Best VS. Average Candidate:
We are seeking a highly experienced QA Analyst with 5+ years of experience in Banking and Capital Markets data and deep exposure to Basel III and OSFI regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience validating regulatory data and reports such as BCAR, NCR, Pillar III, and LRR, along with advanced SQL skills. The ability to automate QA testing using Python and/or leverage GitHub Copilot for test acceleration is considered a strong advantage.
