Description de poste

Determined, imaginative, curious—if these are some of the ways you describe yourself, we want to learn more about you!

At TC Energy, we are proud to connect the world to the energy it needs. Guided by our values of safety in every step, personal accountability, one team and active learning, we deliver the critical energy that North America and the world rely on while balancing reliability, affordability and sustainability.

The Opportunity

TC Energy is seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to provide strategic and operational environmental leadership in support of Canada Gas Operations pipeline assets in Alberta. This role delivers field-based environmental expertise to ensure regulatory compliance through the implementation of corporate environmental programs, completion of inspections and regulatory reporting, management of regional environmental budgets, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The Environmental Advisor supports the environmental compliance of day-to-day pipeline operations by ensuring alignment with federal and provincial legislation, project commitments, and company standards, while providing proactive environmental and project planning guidance to Operations teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide frequent, field‑based environmental support to Operations staff to ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, and company standards

  • Implement TC Energy’s Environment Program, including standard practices and procedures, to promote consistent compliance and effective environmental protection

  • Review environmental operating procedures and processes, identify gaps, recommend improvements, and support effective field‑level implementation

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage annual environmental programs, including hazardous waste management, vegetation and noxious weed control, surface water management, and pre‑job environmental risk assessments and hazard identification

  • Lead or support environmental assessments, monitoring, inspections, and facility audits, as required

  • Develop, track, and forecast regional environmental budgets in support of Operations

  • Collaborate with internal Environment peers to align regional activities with corporate priorities and Canada Gas Operations objectives

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including Operations personnel and regulators, to identify, assess, and manage environmental risks

  • Conduct inspections of pipeline facilities to verify compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and company standards

  • Prepare and submit external regulatory and permit reporting, including stormwater management and soil quality reporting, as required

  • Participate in a rotational on‑call schedule to provide 24/7 environmental emergency response support and assist with environment‑related incident investigations

  • Attend regional pre‑project meetings and provide environmental input to ensure hazards and risks are identified, evaluated, and appropriately managed

  • Participate in regulatory inspections and support the communication, tracking, and closure of findings, commitments, and corrective actions

  • Support stakeholder engagement activities with landowners and Indigenous communities, as required

  • Communicate new or revised Environment Program requirements to Operations teams, support training delivery, and participate in JHSEC, EPT, CAT, and other relevant committees or initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • University degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant environmental or industry experience

  • Knowledge of natural gas pipeline operations and experience working with federal and provincial regulators, including the Canada Energy Regulator, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, and Environment and Climate Change Canada

  • Strong working knowledge of applicable provincial and federal legislation, including EPEA, the Waste Control Regulation, Alberta Water Act, Fisheries Act, and Species at Risk Act

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant professional designation or certification

  • Demonstrated problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and provide clear recommendations

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

  • Project management skills (planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk assessment and time management)

  • Ability to create and sustain critical partnerships, and effectively network across multiple business functions

  • Emergency response experience and training (e.g., Incident Command System (ICS))

  • Embrace safety leadership and TC Energy’s “Safety in Every Step; Energy in Every Action” culture

  • Maintain a valid driver's license and submit a driver's abstract for review

  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training (estimated 30-40% of work schedule)

  • Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up to 25% of work schedule)

  • Provide on-call emergency response support as required (e.g., spills, releases)

To remain competitive, support our high-performance culture, and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-Hybrid
