Description de posteWe currently have an exciting opportunity for a Regional Director in our Edmonton office, with responsibility for the overall performance and profitability in our Northern Alberta ("NAB") region. Reporting to the VP, Underwriting and Strategic Growth, the successful individual will be accountable for regional underwriting, operations, broker relationships, and financial results. The Regional Director shares responsibility for the development and implementation of the strategic plan and for achieving regional and enterprise objectives.
What You’ll Do:
Contribute to sound company and regional planning by participating in the strategic direction of the company.
Develop and implement a regional business plan that supports Peace Hills’ strategic objectives and underwriting appetite.
Assume responsibility for the management, production and profitability of each line of business for overall regional results.
Directly oversee Underwriting Managers and Business Development Advisor, partnering with them to develop and achieve regional goals.
Provide strong leadership, guidance and mentoring to direct reports, clearly communicate performance expectations and company and individual goals.
Provide quality control of the underwriting portfolio through audit, analysis and active management.
Manage and oversee regional portfolio risk, including concentration, accumulation, and exposure management, in alignment with enterprise governance and reinsurance structures.
Participate in leadership processes required to shape and frame the Company’s vision, business plans and strategic business initiatives.
Provide reliable market intelligence, industry trends and regional insights to Head Office in support of enterprise planning and decision-making.
Contribute to the development of the regional budget; implement controls and monitor performance
Support and lead broker and internal chance initiatives, including system, process, and underwriting changes impacting the region.
Attend industry and broker functions as required.
Provide oversight of office administration and regional operational matters.
Travel is required within the region and to other Peace Hills offices as business needs dictate
What You’ll Bring:
CIP or FCIP designation.
Minimum 10 years of property and casualty underwriting and rating experience.
Generalknowledge of claims, accounting, reinsurance, and capital considerations.
In-depth knowledge of underwriting practices, portfolio management, and risk selection.
Previous leadership or management experience with accountability for results.
Innovative, forward-thinking mindset with ability to manage priorities and lead through change
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust and influence across stakeholders.
Strong analytical, problem-solving , anddecision making skills.
Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience.
Strong computer and system proficiency .
Exceptional ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
