Description de posteAbout the role We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support refurbishment projects at the Kemano Hydroelectric Power Station, one of British Columbia's most critical power assets. The role involves representing the Owner and supporting the team through project development, execution and commissioning.
Location & Schedule Position based at the Kemano camp, with a Tuesday to Friday on‑site rotation. Kemano is approximately 80 km from Kitimat; travel is provided by boat at the start and end of each rotation. The position is not a fly‑in‑fly‑out arrangement.
Responsibilities
Embed Rio Tinto HSEC standards into all engineering decisions, designs, field activities and contractor engagements.
Apply hydroelectric generation standards, codes and regulatory requirements to ensure compliant solutions.
Define user requirements and establish inspection scope and deliverables.
Provide technical oversight through design reviews, drawing reviews and engineering study recommendations.
Support engineering service providers across project phases.
Participate in risk analysis and constructability workshops.
Provide safety, technical and coordination support during field inspections and testing activities.
Validate, approve and sign off inspection and Factory Acceptance Test results.
About you
Commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
Hold a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
Registered, or eligible for immediate registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Candidates who are not registered but who bring relevant experience may be considered at an appropriate level.
Progressive, hands‑on electrical engineering experience, including commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and operational decision‑making in power generation or heavy industrial environments.
Knowledge of electrical equipment in hydroelectric facilities, including protection & control, digital control systems, and applicable industry standards and regulations.
Strong ability to work collaboratively in small, site‑based teams, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Benefits
Base salary range $116,000 – $174,000 CAD plus allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits and other discretionary benefits.
