The Warehouse Team Leader supports day-to-day operations by guiding a team of warehouse associates, coordinating key warehouse activities, and ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. This role actively participates in shift preparation, communicates clearly with management and other departments, and helps maintain smooth, accurate, and timely warehouse workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of warehouse associates by providing clear guidance, on-the-job training, and constructive performance feedback.
• Allocate and coordinate daily warehouse activities, including receiving, picking, replenishment, loading, and inventory control, to meet operational targets.
• Coordinate labour requests and staffing support for other departments as needed to ensure overall operational efficiency.
• Prepare effectively for each shift by organizing tasks, resources, and priorities, and provide thorough handovers to the next shift to set them up for success.
• Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with warehouse team members, management, and other departments to support smooth operations.
• Monitor workflow and address issues or bottlenecks promptly to maintain productivity and service levels.
• Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and safe by promoting and enforcing housekeeping and safety standards.
• Use material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, safely and in compliance with company policies and certifications.
• Review and manage work orders accurately to support timely and correct order processing.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance processes, safety, and efficiency within the warehouse.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in a warehouse team lead or warehouse supervisory role.
• 5+ years of experience working in a distribution centre environment.
• Proficiency in warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, picking, replenishment, loading, and inventory control.
• Experience working with work orders and related warehouse documentation.
• Valid material handling equipment (MHE) certifications, including forklift certification.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and support a team.
• Effective communication skills to interact with team members, management, and other departments.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to prepare for shifts and ensure smooth handovers.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Willingness and ability to work straight afternoon shifts from 2:00 . to 11:00 .

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in building supplies or plumbing wholesale environments is an asset.
• Previous experience in a high-volume distribution centre is an advantage.
• Familiarity with coordinating cross-departmental labour and support.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to operational issues.
• Attention to detail when handling inventory, documentation, and work orders.

Work Environment

This role is based in a distribution centre environment with straight afternoon shifts from 2:00 . to 11:00 . You will work on-site in a warehouse setting that involves regular use of material handling equipment such as forklifts and other MHE, and you will handle shipping, receiving, picking, replenishment, and loading activities. The facility emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safety, and provides access to an on-site gym for employee use. The dress code is typical for a warehouse environment, focusing on practical, safe attire suitable for operating equipment and performing physical tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vaughan, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.25 - $27.25/hr.
