Description de posteWe're looking to add a Senior Estimator to our Mississauga office to contribute to the growth of our Building operations.
The Senior Estimator is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation of multiple construction estimates and budgets of varying complexity and size for our clients. This position plays a key role in helping the team maintain its leading reputation in the industry and in continuing its rapid growth. The Senior Estimator estimates conceptual design‑build, cost plus, lump sum and construction management projects, as well as works with the project team through to project design, tendering and vendor procurement.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for preparing Estimates for Design‑Build and for CM projects. This will include all ‘soft’ budget elements including commentary, assumptions lists, presentation materials etc., as required
Lead on hard bid pursuits
Study plans and specifications
Interpret the technical specifications of the tender documents
Analyze and prepare tender documents
Discuss the working methods to be applied, parts of the work to be subcontracted, risks and constraints of the call for tenders
Perform quantity calculations
Evaluate the costs of materials, labor, and necessary equipment
Find prices from subcontractors and suppliers
Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to confirm pricing, coverage, and cover scope gaps
Participate in mandatory visits and/or client meetings for relevant information
Prepare the review of proposals and ensure that the scope of work is complete
Conduct site visits, review and approve the preparation of drawings, specifications and other design documents and ensure integration between all disciplines
Communicating with vendors to obtain bids for materials and services needed for construction projects
Creates and issues tenders for sub‑contracting pricing
Reviewing bids from vendors to ensure compliance with contract requirements
Maintains a costing database for future budgeting and estimates
Participates in the identification of project risks, mitigating company exposure to them effectively
Develop and consider the project schedule as well as construction challenges in all estimates
Proactively follows up on RFIs and maintains information
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the role of Construction Estimator within a General Contracting (GC) and/or Design‑Build GC firm having been the sole or lead Estimator with a clear track record of successfully won projects
Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required
Ability to obtain Secret‑level security and Reliability status
Working knowledge of construction equipment and techniques, estimating, drawings and specifications, building material and required standards applicable to discipline
Working knowledge of Site Development, Building Envelope and M&E Systems for ICI facilities
Proficiency in the use of estimating software
Ability to breakdown a project to elemental scopes of work with both complete sets of project documentation as well as from preliminary conceptual designs. Ability to provide confident and personable service to clients and sub‑contractors
Ability to work on multiple estimates of varying size and complexity
Ability to estimate high level budgets as well as detailed line‑item estimates
Ability to communicate with Project Managers effectively and Site Superintendents to verify scope capture and project plan of the estimate
Ability to communicate with engineers effectively and architects to ensure all scopes of work are considered.
Possesses effective writing and oral communication skills
Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management
Previous experience supporting projects using Construction Management, Cost Plus, Stipulated Sum, and Design‑Build delivery methods
PQS / CEC designation, or working towards it, is considered an asset
Gold Seal Certification is desirable, but not required.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is
$95,000 - $145,000.
Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance‑based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
