Description The Haskayne School of Business is currently seeking a Full‑time Limited Term Director for approximately 24 months.

The Director, Haskayne Centres at the Haskayne School of Business is a member of the Student Success and Community Engagement team. This role provides leadership and management for the Haskayne Centres, including the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Trico Foundation Social Entrepreneurship Centre, Canadian Centre for Advanced Leadership in Business, and the Westman Centre for Real Estate Studies. The Director, Haskayne Centres portfolio also includes additional community‑engaged experiential learning initiatives.

Leading a team of front‑line managers and professional staff, the Director, Haskayne Centres' scope includes student experience and community engagement programming, as well as collaboration with advancement on fund development priorities essential to achieving the goals and objectives of the Centres' in line with the Haskayne School of Business Strategic Plan.

The Director serves as a key steward of the Centres' business relationships, both within the larger Calgary community and the higher education environment. Strong judgment is required to develop and lead the delivery of services and programs, manage complex issues, and ensure effective processes and policies. The role operates in a fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple competing priorities, requiring independent decision‑making that can have a significant impact on the reputation of both the school and the university.

The Director reports to the Senior Director, Student Success and Community Engagement and is part of a team dedicated to enriching the student experience and enhancing Haskayne's reputation in the business community. This position is expected to work predominantly in‑office and in the community, Monday to Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., 7 hours per day (35 hours per week); however, due to constantly shifting priorities, flexibility is essential, including some evening and weekend hours.

Summary of Key Responsibilities Job functions include but are not limited to:

Strategic Planning, Leadership and Direction

Works with the Senior Director to develop and implement a strategic plan for the Haskayne Centres, assessing human resource needs, funding gaps, growth opportunities, and primary goals

Develops and implements operational plans and budgets to achieve strategic objectives

Measures and reports on key performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of the Haskayne Centres programs

Leads a high‑performing team of front‑line managers and professional staff serving the Haskayne Centres portfolio, establishing roles, recruiting staff, and managing day‑to‑day operations in collaboration with HR

Promotes and maintains a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for all staff, students and external stakeholders

Collaborates with Haskayne's Advancement team to set and achieve fund development goals to ensure the financial sustainability of the Centres

Program Development and Faculty Support

Develops student‑centred programming that supports Haskayne's desired academic and student outcomes, enhancing the student experience through innovative learning opportunities

Collaborates with the Director of Student Services, Academic Directors and faculty to integrate student‑learning opportunities and support academic objectives

Works with the Senior Director to advance the Centres' programs and achieve objectives

Business Development and Community Engagement

Cultivates partnerships with Calgary's business and non‑profit community to bring diverse experiences to Haskayne students

Collaborates with the Advancement team to manage relationships with donors

Plans and executes community engagement activities, such as speaker series, workshops and experiential learning events in collaboration with external partners

Management

Fosters a culture of accountability, creativity, and collaboration, ensuring service levels exceed expectations

Manages all aspects of staff performance, including hiring, delegation, performance reviews, and disciplinary action if necessary

Compliance and Reporting

Manages the Centres' budgets and ensures efficient allocation of resources

Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements related to University policies and donor agreements

Prepares reports on Centres' impact, including supporting the development of donor stewardship reports

Collaborates with University Advancement teams

Ensures compliance with Haskayne marketing and communications guidelines

Manages student and donor data responsibly, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures

Qualifications / Requirements

Master's degree in business or a related field

An equivalent combination of education and experience with comparable knowledge and abilities may be considered

5–8+ years of progressive experience in an experiential learning or community engagement environment

Experience managing teams, with a positive, collaborative leadership style focused on mentoring and development

Demonstrated professionalism, experience working with donors and industry stakeholders, and capabilities in complex stakeholder relations

Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality and systems‑wide thinking

Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, with experience in diverse settings, from engaging students to meeting senior business leaders

Commitment to student well‑being, diversity, and inclusion

Demonstrated ability to engage in difficult conversations and performance coaching and management of direct reports

Experience in strategic planning, business planning, establishing goals and metrics, budgeting and reporting

Knowledge of experiential learning, program development and delivery

Strong business acumen, with a problem‑solving and analytical mindset

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, leading with minimal supervision

Advanced proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint, with experience in creating dashboards and using platforms such as Teams and Zoom

Results‑driven, with a proven ability to meet targets and deadlines
