Job summary :

As a member of the technical writing team, the successful candidate will play an active role in the product development team, working with the concurrent engineering approach using an NPD process.

Working closely with the product development and certification teams, the technical writer is responsible for designing, writing and illustrating technical documents for new products under development, as well as updating existing product documents.

Technical aspects : Understand and communicate safety aspects, technical requirements and installation procedures clearly and concisely to enhance the customer experience.

Ensure visual content and terminology is standardized across all product lines and continuously improved.

Administrative aspects : Manage priorities and document project progress, participate in the development of technical processes and tools.

Coordinate deliverables with colleagues and partners to meet project deadlines.

Job Responsibilities :

• Independently produces high quality documentation including product installation instructions, data sheets, service manuals, reference guides and product labels that meet applicable standards.
• Translates from English to French or vice-versa.
• Works with project teams to gain a thorough understanding of products and documentation requirements.
• Familiarizes self with products to assist with installation, operation and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participates in the physical validation of installation and replacement procedures.
• Performs a complete review of product operation and interface, including installation, to validate instructions.
• Participates in design reviews to understand the impact on existing and future technical documentation.
• Produces and modifies illustrations.
• Produces and uses photographs, illustrations, drawings, diagrams and graphics to support written content.
• May be required to use CAD files to develop exploded views and other illustrations.
• Uses PLM software to receive requests, coordinate changes and publish documentation.
• Identifies the best emerging software, tools and technical writing practices, and proposes and directs their continuous improvement and implementation.

Job requirements :

• Fluent in French and English (bilingual, both spoken and written).
• Training in mechanical engineering, translation, computer graphics or equivalent experience.
• Relevant experience in technical writing and / or computer graphics.
• Knowledge of Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Knowledge of Office Suite.
• Knowledge of Creo Illustrate CAD software an asset.
• Excellent mechanical sense, spatial vision, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
• Knowledge of Spanish an asset.
