What We Look For In an ACCUPLACER Tutor

Guides students through solving linear and quadratic equations, interpreting data displays, analyzing reading passages for main ideas and inferences, and writing organized placement essays. Emphasizes understanding that each correct answer increases difficulty and score potential in the adaptive format.
• Curriculum Awareness & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with ACCUPLACER content areas and common challenges such as fraction and decimal operations, algebraic word problems, and timed essay writing under pressure. Adapts instruction using official College Board ACCUPLACER practice applications, diagnostic skill assessments, and targeted remediation to support incoming college students and adult learners seeking optimal course placement outcomes.
• Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
