The Durham District School Board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships, both historic and modern, with the territories upon which our school board and schools are located. As a Long-Term Occasional Teacher (LTO) for DDSB, you’ll create a vibrant and supportive learning environment where students thrive. You’ll bring your passion for teaching to the classroom, guiding students through their educational journey and fostering a love for learning.

• Develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and support student learning.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to help students grow.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance student learning.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

Qualifications And Additional Information

• Grade(s)/assignments: 7/8 French Immersion
• Required subject qualifications: Intermediate & FSL
• FTE: 1.0
• Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing
• FSL qualifications and successful completion of the Boards written French competency test are required. The test will be administered to the person’s if/when they are recommended for a specific French position following an interview.
• Elementary LTO Salary Range: $53,352 to $119,967/year (Placement on salary grid is based on QECO rating and teaching experience. Salary will be pro-rated based on the position FTE).

Please Note The Following

• External hires can take up to 10 working days to be processed which could affect the start date for this position.
• A Long Term Occasional Teacher may not rescind a Long Term Assignment for the purpose of applying for and accepting a different Long Term Assignment. An OT who is in a Long Term Assignment may accept more than one Long Term Assignment so long as the acceptance of one does not require the rescinding of another. Nothing in this provision precludes a Long Term Occasional Teacher from rescinding a Long Term Assignment for the purposes of applying for and accepting a permanent position.
