RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. Position summary
Department / Research Program: CHHD – Child Health and Human Development
The MyeliNeuroGene Research Laboratory, directed by Dr. Genevieve Bernard, MD, MSc, a clinician-scientist, is looking for a motivated person to fill the position of full-time Research Associate. The team specializes in genetic white matter diseases, leukodystrophies, and related disorders. Under the direction of the principal investigator, the candidate participates in the execution of various activities including expertise in iPSC maintenance, differentiation of iPSCs into various CNS cell types (Oligodendrocytes, Neurons etc), 3D organoids and assembloids. Successful candidate will also oversee multidisciplinary research projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams. The candidate is also expected to contribute to grant writing.
General Duties
• Supervise and train student researchers,
• Help supervise the overall iPSC Platform,
• Maintain cultures of iPSCs and differentiated cell types ,
• Generate CRISPR edited iPSC lines,
• Coordinate multiple research projects,
• Support project planning and strategic initiatives,
• Contribute to grant writing.

Education: Doctorate Degree
Field of Study: biomedical science, neuroscience, molecular genetics
Work Experience: Minimum of 2 years of work experience and project management
Required Skills
• This position requires an advanced knowledge of oral and written French.
• An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
• Experience in RNA therapies,
• Expertise in iPSC, OPC/OL and other CNS cell cultures is MANDATORY,
• Experience in CRISPR editing of iPSCs ,
• Proficiency in written and spoken French and English required,
• Excellent planning, organization, time-management skills,
• Excellent communication and networking skills,
• Experience with training/supervising students and projects,
• Experience with project management.
