About Our Family
We are a warm, open-minded family living in Squamish, BC, close to Brennan Park. Our home has a private downstairs space where the nanny would have their own bedroom and bathroom, while the kitchen and main living areas are shared. We value a household that feels collaborative, respectful, and comfortable for everyone living in it.
We have two neurodivergent children (ages 6 and 8) who are imaginative, playful, and full of personality. They connect best with people who are patient, creative, and able to engage in imaginative play.
Our family is queer-affirming, and it’s important that anyone joining our household is fully supportive of LGBTQ families and values.
We have had a wonderful nanny with us for the past year and a half, and she is moving on to her next chapter. Through that experience we’ve learned that the best arrangement is one where we can communicate openly, support each other, and adapt together as we figure out the rhythms of living and working in the same home.
Parenting Style
Our parenting approach focuses on supporting our children’s nervous systems and helping them feel safe and regulated. We work from the understanding that challenging behaviour usually means a child does not feel safe in their nervous system, so our focus is on creating felt safety through accommodations, connection, and co-regulation.
Because of this approach, our parenting style may sometimes appear to have loose boundaries or fewer traditional consequences, but the goal is to help our children develop emotional regulation and trust through supportive guidance.
Our 8-year-old can sometimes display externalized behaviours, including occasional physical aggression when dysregulated. Because of this, we are looking for someone who is comfortable remaining calm, using de-escalation strategies, and supporting children through intense emotional moments.
Experience with neurodivergent children, emotional regulation support, or trauma-informed care is a strong asset, but openness to learning and the ability to stay grounded in challenging moments are most important.
The Role
This position is live-in, with room and board included. The nanny would have their own bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor of the house, while the kitchen and main living areas are shared with the family upstairs.
Hours will vary depending on the time of year :
Summer : closer to full-time hours
School year : approximately 15–20 hours per week
Responsibilities include :
Childcare and supervision
Engaging the children through creative and imaginative play
Supervising playdates and supporting social skill development, particularly for our 8-year-old whose social skills are still developing
Helping the children navigate friendships and peer interactions in a supportive way

Light housekeeping
Laundry
The role will be collaborative, primarily working alongside mom in managing the household and caring for the children. Dad works a demanding schedule and is less involved in day-to-day coordination.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a household team and who is comfortable communicating openly about needs, expectations, and challenges so we can create a supportive living environment for everyone.
