Job Summary:
As an Architectural Technologist, you will be responsible for producing detailed architectural drawings and technical documentation for a variety of downstream and commercial projects. You will play a key role in project development from concept through construction, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver functional, compliant, and cost-effective designs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and coordinate architectural construction drawings and specifications for gas stations, oil shops, QSR/gas station hybrids, and retail projects.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, zoning bylaws, accessibility requirements, and client‑specific standards.
- Collaborate with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure integrated and coordinated designs.
- Incorporate fuel system layouts, canopy structures, convenience store layouts, and restaurant fit‑outs into overall site plans.
- Attend site visits and design coordination meetings as required.
- Utilize CAD and BIM software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to prepare and manage architectural models and drawing sets.
- Assist in permitting packages, tender documentation, and construction administration tasks.
- Maintain strong attention to constructability, site logistics, material selection, and cost‑efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in Architectural Technology or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in architectural design and documentation.
- Experience designing gas stations, mixed‑use retail/fuel facilities, quick‑service restaurant/gas station combos, oil shops, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code (or applicable local building regulations).
- Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
Assets (Not Required):
- Knowledge of mechanical and piping design considerations, particularly for fuel systems or HVAC in commercial projects.
- Experience with permit and zoning applications.
- Familiarity with petroleum industry regulations, fueling layouts, and tank/storage system integration.
