Job Description

Sinai Health is looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to support our Fertility Department at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The nurse practitioner/clinical nurse specialist utilizes and demonstrates a comprehensive theoretical knowledge base and advanced level of clinical competence in caring for fertility and obstetric clients. This may involve taking a comprehensive obstetric/neonatal and general health history; ordering and interpreting diagnostic investigations and laboratory tests; determining a treatment plan in consultation with the physician, the health care team and with the family and evaluating the outcomes of the plan and interventions taken. The successful incumbent will develop, implement and evaluate initiatives that improve patient care quality in the Fertility and in the Women’s and Infants Health Program, in accordance with the principles of patient and family integrated care, the strategic goals of the program, and the goals of the organization as a whole. This includes a leadership role in quality assurance, infection control, patient safety and patient satisfaction, as well as administrative duties within the Women’s and Infants Health Program and the hospital.

We offer a wide range of fertility treatments including: Cycle Monitoring, Timed Intercourse, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI), In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Medically Indicated Fertility Preservation, Egg Freezing and Sperm Banking. Our interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, lab staff, genetic counsellors and administrative staff have been recognized nationally for their academic excellence and field-leading research in fertility science. Our fertility doctors are Royal College certified specialists in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI). With an average of 3, treatment cycles annually, our program delivers comprehensive reproductive care at scale while maintaining individualized attention to each patient's circumstances.

In this role you will:

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in the establishment of goals and objectives for the program consistent with the provision of high-quality care
• Participate in the programmatic development of the clinical area and participates and provides leadership in Nursing practice, program development and evaluation. Aids in the development and maintenance of standards of clinical practice through the creation of an environment conducive to growth and development of staff, excellence in clinical practice and implementation and utilization of research
• Interpret and foster the philosophy, goals and standards of the Department of Nursing
• Develop partnerships, including identification of community resources, multi-cultural services, and adult services to enhance continuity of care for clients
• Perform and participate in research activities and implements and advances changes in evidence-based practice
• Deliver, coordinate and participate in education and professional development activities/programs involving both staff and clients
• Perform activities to further develop and strengthen the profession including the supervision of advanced nursing students
• Act as a resource and serves as a consultant to individuals and groups within the professional community
• Perform other duties consistent with the job classification as required

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Mandatory

• Completion of a Master’s Degree program in nursing
• Nurse Practitioner Certificate or equivalent
• Currently registered (Extended Class) and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)

Preferred

• Eligible for cross-appointment to an academic institution
• Membership in RNAO and other organizations relevant to the role
• Previous experience in roles of advanced practitioner, educator, researcher and administration/leadership
• Experience precepting and evaluating undergraduate and post-graduate nursing students, as well as clinical fellows

Skills and Knowledge

• Proven expertise in the implementation of the Nurse Practitioner role strongly recommended
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to sensitively communicate with patients/families in vulnerable situations
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and customer services skills
• Excellent organization, time management, program planning and evaluation skills
• Demonstrated decision making, problem recognition/solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
• Proven commitment to collaborative practice and ability to work effectively independently and within an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to utilize information technology
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
