What We Need : Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Programs & Chief Nurse Executive, the successful candidate is responsible for the Surgical Services portfolio (Surgical Suite, Post Anesthetic Care Unit, Surgical Admission and Discharge Unit, Outpatient Procedures Suites, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, Surgical Assessment Clinic, Orthopaedic Rapid Access Clinic, Inpatient Surgical Unit, Short Stay Unit, Surgical Clinics and Medical Device Reprocessing Department). The successful candidate will bring transformational leadership, systems thinking, innovation and energy. The Clinical Director will have operational accountability for the provision of high-quality patient care within their portfolio. Working in close collaboration with physician leads and other members of the leadership team, the Director provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure the delivery of efficient, safe, and high-quality healthcare to patients.The Director provides visionary leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of professionals within their program and across the teams, fostering an environment of learning and growth and plays a key role as an influential expert liaising with leaders across the organization. The director will establish the operational framework and infrastructure for program planning, implementation and evaluation to ensure the safe and effective delivery of high-quality care. The director will collaborate across teams to develop and implement strategic and operational plans aligned with Oak Valley Health’s Strategy, Organizational Goals and Priorities, while also promoting and sustaining a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Other key responsibilities include financial stewardship and accountability for the program budget / operational planning and monitoring, and actively contributing to a variety of internal, external and regional committees and taskforces. This role requires a high degree of emotional intelligence and the ability to build and foster strong and collaborative relationships. An ability to “think outside the box” and facilitate creative thinking and innovative problem solving is an asset. The Director is a systems thinker who looks beyond the issues of today and considers the broader landscape of healthcare over time and across sectors to create collaborative systems of care for our patients and communities. What you bring to the role : Minimum 5 years’ experience in a clinical leadership role within a Surgical Program* Master’s Degree in a Health Related discipline required* Surgical Program Clinical and Operational Expertise* Regulated Health Professional currently registered with the applicable governing body* Current membership in relevant professional organizations* Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization* Demonstrated experience in promoting high quality, interprofessional work environments that result in safe, quality, patient-centered outcomes* Demonstrated success of organizational change initiatives that have improved both clinical and fiscal utilization* Demonstrate commitment to building and evolving workplace culture across complex teams to advance our adoption of high reliability organization practices and deepen team engagement* Demonstrated ability to plan, execute and evaluate projects* Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality improvement* Commitment to working in partnership with patients and families and building a culture dedicated to improving the patient experience* Ability to apply communication, facilitation and conflict management skills and expertise to influence and negotiate effective quality of care process and resolution of issues / disputes* Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service when interacting with patients, families, colleagues and physicians* Proven facilitation, communication, relationship building, collaboration, leadership and organizational skills* Demonstrated ability to analyze fiscal, patient care data and statistics* Commitment to on-going learning and professional development* Strong understanding of health care roles, scope of practice and health-care related legislation (e.g. RHPA, QCIPA)* Demonstrated ability to access, interpret, and synthesize evidence-based practices* Demonstrates knowledge in clinical practice in the care of surgical patients* Demonstrated knowledge of patient flow and bed allocation processes, including working knowledge of infection control guidelines as they pertain to patient flow decision making* Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards* Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required Personal Attributes : Resilient, self-directed, and recognized transformational change leader* Committed to person centred care* Exceptional communicator who builds strong relationships across all levels* Continuous learner with a commitment to professional growth* Model of attendance, performance, and safety in the workplace Work Schedule : Monday - Friday DaysPlease note schedules may change due to operational needs.
