Ableliving opened its doors in 1978 with the first project being our Binbrook location. We continue to build the organization and provide exceptional services with support from Ontario Health. Our Binbrook location provides support for individuals with disabilities, seniors, as well as those with long-term chronic ventilation support needs.

This position reports to the Support Services Program Coordinator and is responsible for a variety of tasks including laundry and housekeeping services, food services and prep-cook responsibilities. This position is responsible for collecting, laundering and returning clients' personal laundry, performing housekeeping tasks in clients' rooms and common areas, assisting the Cook with maintaining food inventory, meal preparation, and setting and serving meals to clients, all while ensuring safe food preparation and handling practices.
Key Duties include :
As a Support Service Worker, you’ll ensure our clients and home are clean, organized, and running efficiently. Your main responsibilities will include :
Team Collaboration : Work with the Cook, other staff, and clients to create a welcoming environment.
Is This You?
We’re looking for someone who :
Has at least a Grade 10 education (preferred).
Can obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate within 60 days of starting (don’t worry, we’ll guide you through it).
Enjoys working in a team and with seniors or adults with disabilities in a home-like setting.
Is reliable, punctual, and has great time management skills.
Can meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, and lifting items of varying weights.
Brings a positive attitude and is excited to contribute to a caring community.
Experience in long-term care or retirement home settings is a bonus.
Knowledge of cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.
Requirements :
Job Type : Part-Time, Contract (12-months)
Starting Rate : $18.21 / hour as per CUPE Local Collective Agreement .
