Responsibilities
Let's Get Specific
- Reviewing and amending, as necessary, all Review and / or Compilation Engagement deliverables to be issued to clients, including working papers, financial statements, planning documents, notes, attached schedules, management letters, and tax returns
- Providing constructive criticism of working papers for Review and / or Compilation Engagements and offering guidance and direction to staff assigned to the engagement
- Attending Review and / or Compilation Engagement final client meetings at the invitation of the Partner, contributing to discussions as appropriate
- Preparing and overseeing very large Audit Engagements
- Reviewing and amending, as necessary, all sections of Audit Engagement files
- Supervising Seniors on audit engagements and monitoring progress against established budgets and due dates
- Ensuring audit engagements are completed in accordance with Firm policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Attending and contributing to discussions with clients and / or Boards of Directors to review Audit Engagement results
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and more efficient tax treatments for corporate and trust tax returns and communicating these opportunities to the Senior Manager and / or Partner
- Reviewing income tax slips and filings related to corporate tax returns, including T4s and T5s
- Ensuring all queries and outstanding issues are resolved satisfactorily prior to review by the Senior Manager and / or Partner
- Assisting Senior Managers and Partners with client billings, as required
- Delegating engagement sections to junior staff based on their knowledge, experience, and capabilities, and ensuring appropriate supervision throughout the engagement
- Coaching and developing staff by providing ongoing support, guidance, and performance feedback, including conducting performance evaluations where appropriate
- Performing other duties and special projects as assigned
Education, Experience and Credentials
Be Graduate of a University Accounting Program or equivalentMinimum of 3 years’ post-designation experience in a public accounting firmDemonstrated experience in an oversight or supervisory roleChartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designationThorough understanding of GAAP / GAAS, ASPE, CAS, CIS, and Canadian taxationStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge of Adobe AcrobatExperience with CaseWare, Taxprep, Cantax, and FormMasterWe believe in using technology to its fullest, so demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, with the ability to create advanced formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, sum ifs, and data analytics, and proficiency with Caseware, CaseView, Jazzit, and Taxprep.We have terrific career rewards with our compensation, benefits, work-life, career development programs.
