The Opportunity

McElhanney is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Fort St. John, BC team. This leadership role is ideal for alguien with local geotechnical experience who wants to shape the future of our geotechnical services in the region. Fort St. John offers outdoor recreation, a welcoming community, and relatively affordable housing; relocation assistance is available. For highly qualified candidates with relevant experience, remote work from within British Columbia may be considered.

You will be part of our Fort St. John Engineering Branch and may already be based there or relocate. Fort St. John offers a vibrant community with year-round outdoor activities and events. Relocation assistance is available.

What You’ll Do

• Manage geotechnical investigations and studies, interpret results, and document findings for transportation, municipal, land development, and resource-related projects.
• Perform geotechnical analysis of stability, stress, deformation, and foundation response using appropriate software.
• Prepare fee estimates and proposals for geotechnical assignments.
• Lead business development and client management, including internal and external efforts.
• Manage project schedules and budgets effectively.
• Provide oversight, guidance, and mentoring to junior staff.
• Grow technical expertise to support current and future McElhanney geotechnical business.

The salary range is $104,000 – $156,000 per annum, with compensation aligned to education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications.
