Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists in Stantec's Toronto, ON office for a highly motivated Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role you will be responsible for the design of structural elements and systems in steel, concrete, masonry, and wood. You will be required to work with limited supervision and direction on small to medium sized projects and as a team member of larger projects, under the general supervision of a Senior Structural Engineer. You will participate in the analysis and design of structural components and systems for a variety of projects in compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Work on multiple projects of small to large scale using various materials.
• Interact with a wide variety of clients from owners, developers, consultants, and contractors.
• Prepare design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for concrete, steel, masonry and wood building structures.
• Prepare and revise documentation at various design phases, including floor plans, diagrams, and details.
• Work with team members in determining viable solutions for design issues.
• Work to and meet project time lines and budgets.
• Coordinate design work with other disciplines, other offices, and other project team members.
• Preparation and review of technical reports.
• Participate in constructability reviews.
• Participate in Stantec’s quality assurance and quality control process.
• Construction administration including site reviews.
• Mentoring, coaching and training of less experienced professionals as required.

Your Capabilities And Credentials

Education And Experience

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Structural / Civil Engineering from an accredited university required.

Professional Engineer in good standing with PEO preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in consulting within a buildings Structural team preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
