What you'll do :

  • Supervise drivers and dispatch operations regarding dispatching of loads
  • Review work and drivers for the day to come up with efficient daily plan for execution
  • Ensure colleagues adhere to Company policies, procedures and safety regulations.
  • Provide direction, support, training and coaching to transport department as required
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained and available on peak days.
  • Prepare drivers’ schedules on a weekly basis.
  • Perform administrative duties including data entry, tabulation of data daily, weekly and by period.
  • Maintain communication with warehouse operations on a regular basis.
  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Oversee yard management and shunting assignments
  • Arrange maintenance as required
  • Other duties as required

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of two years’ experience in distribution operations and transportation.
  • Should possess ability to work unsupervised and display strong initiative skills.
  • Previous supervisory experience a definite asset.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • Proven negotiating and problem solving skills.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate others through persuasion and encouragement.
  • Ability to deal effectively with all levels of management and customers.
  • Class 1 license an asset.
  • Experience with computer systems in a Windows environment a must. Must have experience in Excel and Outlook.
  • Previous experience with SAP and TMS is considered an asset.
  • Schedule is Monday to Friday night shift
