Loving, warm, gentle childcare wanted, part-time, in a variety of ways. Our kids are 7 and 11, bright, respectful, and eager to engage and learn from a person who feels like a member of the family. We are currently wanting support with driving two children to/from school in Manor Park (Ottawa) from north Cantley, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (morning only). We are also looking for a great fit to help our family with child care at home after school, occasional weekends, as well as help with light housekeeping, meal prep/planning, and errands like groceries. (All to be discussed as possibilities). We would like to start with weekend childcare to build your relationship with the children to help make rides to school and back even more connected, satisfying, and fun. We have two other children, ages 5 and 8, who do not currently require transportation. We are a blended family (4 kids) with a half-week schedule (currently Saturday to Wednesday; this may change later in 2026.) Dates : Beginning immediately. Approach to Childcare: We resonate with the Waldorf (Steiner) and democratic school child philosophies. We believe that children should be supported to remain in a state of wonder, undirected play, etc... as much as possible and be outdoors for much of the day, exploring and wondering about nature. Duties: Driving, childcare, food preparation, light housekeeping. Transportation: Must have own vehicle that is well maintained and safe. Other requirements: Have a current police records check. Provide proof of full auto insurance, including third-party liability. Provide copy of drivers licence. Provide copy of driving record. Due to sensitivities in the family, we require that no fragrance be worn (for example, as found in cosmetics, skin care, hair products, perfume), and no air fresheners or other optional chemicals be in the car. You must be a non-smoker. Discipline is mindful and is based upon respect and attachment, not on shame, blame, authority or punishment. Respects the will/wishes/desire of the child. Loves being outside!
