Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

The General Production Worker operates machinery to bend metal tracks for garage doors and supports various production tasks on the shop floor. This role involves machine operation, manual handling, packaging, and maintaining a clean and organized work area in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery to bend metal tracks for garage doors according to specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with banding and bundling of products using both manual methods and an electric strapping machine.
  • Shrink wrap bundles to prepare finished products for storage and shipment.
  • Perform general production, assembly, and packaging tasks as required to support daily output targets.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area by regularly cleaning up around machines and common spaces.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to shop floor protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with other operators and team members on the shift to meet production goals and quality standards.
  • Handle and move materials and finished products, including lifting items up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of experience in a manufacturing, general labor, shop, or warehouse environment.
  • Experience with general labor tasks such as production, assembly, and packaging.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Comfort working with and around production machinery in a manufacturing setting.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Steel-toed work boots suitable for a production and warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating machines in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • experinece in windows, doors, or similar building products manufacturing is beneficial.
  • Experience using an electric strapping machine or similar packaging equipment is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to safety and quality in all production tasks.
  • Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts, including potential overtime.

Work Environment

You will work in a manufacturing facility focused on producing metal tracks for garage doors, alongside a collaborative team of operators. The team consists of approximately 8 operators on the day shift and 7 on the night shift. The day shift runs Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm (8-hour shifts), and the afternoon shift runs Monday to Thursday from 3:30 pm to 2:00 am (10-hour shifts). Overtime may be available, and an afternoon shift premium is offered. The environment includes production machinery, manual and electric bundling and strapping equipment, and shrink-wrapping stations. You must wear steel-toed work boots and appropriate work attire suitable for a busy shop and warehouse setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Abbotsford, BC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.40 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
