Well-rounded accounting & finance opportunity with a global technology company. Looking for a designated CPA with strong corporate accounting and financial reporting skills. Leading and mentoring a team of 4. Hybrid work schedule.

Who- the Company:

Our client is a highly successful and well-established technology company that is a global leader in their industry. The company has a healthy P&L with a robust technology roadmap and ambitious yet realistic growth plans over the next several years.

What- the Role:

Swim Recruiting is looking for a new Controller on behalf of our client. Here is a snapshot of the key responsibilities, and Swim Recruiting can provide interested candidates with a more fulsome job description:

  • Lead the Canadian finance function, including accounting, reporting, controls and transactional finance
  • Oversee monthly/quarterly reporting, KPIs, budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning
  • Ensure financial compliance, SOX, internal controls, tax and statutory reporting requirements
  • Lead annual audits and manage external auditor relationships
  • Manage treasury, credit position and working capital
  • Partner with business leaders on strategic decisions, investment modelling and growth initiatives
  • Mentor, develop and coach the accounting team (including 2 Accountants); drive transformation, automation and continuous improvement on the team.

The Controller will work closely with senior leadership as a strategic partner, and will also collaborate with other departments to support overall business operations and financial performance. Using an ERP, a CRM, sophisticated Excel, and various finance tools and technologies (BI, AI, consolidation tools, etc.)

Who- the Candidate:

  • We are seeking a senior accounting professional with at least 8 years of progressive and relevant work experience.
  • Canadian CPA designation required, or International equivalent.
  • Experience in technology sector is highly preferred.
  • Experience leading Canadian accounting function for a global company is a significant asset.
  • Ideally candidates will have worked with a SOX-compliant publicly-listed company.
  • Excellent leadership capabilities, including prior experience mentoring, coaching, and developing a team of at least 2 and ideally 4+ direct reports.
  • Must have strong USA GAAP and/or IFRS financial reporting skills.
  • Systems savvy, with hands-on experience using a sophisticated ERP as well as other tools and technologies.

How Much:

Compensation commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications, likely in the range of $115,000 to $135,000. Additionally, the Controller will receive a generous amount of paid time off (over 4 weeks), benefits, professional development support, etc. Please discuss your total compensation expectations in further detail with SWIM.

Where:

HYBRID. Greater Vancouver, off a major highway. 2-3 days/week in office at first during training, and 2 days/week in office in the long-term.
