Ecological farmers and farming

We're hiring for the 2026 season! We've outgrown our urban backyard micro-farms and moving our main operations to a more traditional farm plot located in Erin, Ontario.

We sell a large variety of vegetables and fruit through our CSA program and at farmers markets. The farm uses low-till and ecological growing practices, such as cover cropping, deep mulching, making compost, and farming with only hand tools.

Here's a more detailed look at the position and the kind of tasks you can expect:

  • 2-3 days a week at our farm in Erin, with the possibility of additional shifts for larger projects.
  • Weekly farmers market shifts if interested/available (these are mainly in Toronto).
  • Assisting with field work. This includes beginning of season set up, end-of-season clean up, weeding, preparing beds, planting, maintenance, mulching, composting and harvesting.
  • Helping with infrastructure/building tasks and maintaining hand-tools/equipment.
  • Feed/water the birds. Coop maintenance. Collect eggs.

Desired experience / skills:

  • Experience working outdoors in a fast paced environment. Previous experience in organic farming/market gardening is highly valuable.
  • Having physical endurance/fitness levels to be able to perform physical tasks (repetitive bending over/squatting, working at an efficient pace, safely lifting up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (excluding extreme weather).
  • A self-starter, comfortable working independently.
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude and be comfortable with the unpredictable nature of farming.
  • A genuine interest in farm work.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary; we are not near any public transport.

What you get:

  • $18-22/hr, depending on experience.
  • Varied tasks that will keep your work days interesting.
  • Opportunity to work on self directed projects that interest you if they are relevant to the farm (new composting systems, trialing new crops, new pest management techniques)
  • Weekly fresh produce when we start harvesting.
