Position Summary
MSSWR is seeking a Girls in Sport Program Facilitator to support the delivery of an 8-week sport-based program for girls. Working closely with a qualified coach and under the supervision of the Program & Events Manager, the Facilitator will help create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment that encourages physical activity, confidence, teamwork, and well-being.
This role combines program facilitation, participant support, and light administrative responsibilities, and is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with youth in a community-based, culturally responsive setting.
Key Responsibilities
Program Delivery & Facilitation
- Support weekly Girls in Sport sessions in collaboration with a qualified coach
- Assist with session setup, delivery, and cleanup, including equipment organization
- Support age-appropriate, inclusive, and culturally responsive physical activities
- Foster a safe, positive, and empowering environment for participants
Participant Support & Engagement
Build positive relationships to encourage engagement and retentionProvide encouragement and social support during sessionsBe attentive to participant needs and comfort levels and adapt support as neededCommunicate any concerns to MSSWR staff in a timely mannerProgram Planning, Communication & Safety
Assist with basic session planning and preparationWork collaboratively with MSSWR staff, the coach, and volunteersTrack attendance and support basic documentationFollow MSSWR policies, safety guidelines, and confidentiality standardsQualifications
Experience working with children or youth in community, recreation, education, or nonprofit settingsStrong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trustComfortable facilitating or supporting group-based activities and programsAbility to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for participantsCultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse communitiesCommitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed practiceAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team.Comfort and enthusiasm for working directly with program participants and diverse community members.Familiarity with program evaluation tools or methods is an asset.Multilingual abilities (especially Arabic, Urdu, Somali, or other languages spoken in the Waterloo Region) are an asset.A values-aligned, collaborative approach to working in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.Commitment to inclusion, anti-oppression principles, and community-building.Understanding of Muslim faith preferred and faith-based programming approach preferred.Note : While this job description is comprehensive, it is not all-inclusive. Job Requirements
Must hold a valid G-class driver’s license and have regular access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel.Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.Availability to work evenings and weekends as required; a flexible schedule is essential for this role.Ability to work Tuesday evenings (6 : 30-8 : 00 PM) consistently throughout the program
Compensation :
The position pays $20 per hour on a part-time, contract basis.Total contract hours are approximately 40 hours, including onboarding, program delivery, and post-program reporting.Why Work for MSSWR :
