We are seeking a skilled and proactive Project Engineer with a strong background in water and wastewater linear infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the design and coordination of watermains and sanitary sewers using both open-cut and trenchless methods. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, project management, and field experience, with the ability to work independently under the guidance of senior engineers.
What a day at EXP has in store for you

  • Lead and support the design of watermain and sanitary sewer systems, including alignment, profile, and connection details.
  • Prepare detailed design reports, drawings, and specifications in accordance with municipal and regulatory standards.
  • Perform hydraulic modeling and analysis to support system design and optimization.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and manage project deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and reviews of shop drawings to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
  • Facilitate and lead meetings with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Support proposal development, including scope definition, technical input, and cost estimation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to quality assurance processes.

What your experience looks like

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in water resources modeling.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard modeling software (., HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, SWMM, MIKE, Info Works ICM).
  • Strong understanding of hydrologic and hydraulic principles, floodplain management, and stormwater systems.
  • Experience with GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data integration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively.
  • Professional Engineer ( designation or eligibility is preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with provincial and federal water management regulations.
  • Experience working with municipalities, conservation authorities, or government agencies.
  • Experience with climate change impact assessments and resiliency planning.
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (Python, MATLAB) for model enhancement.

The salary range for this role is between $90K - $125K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
