The Role

About Kyndryl

Kyndryl is a global leader in technology infrastructure and services, helping organizations modernize and transform through data, AI, and cloud. Our Data & AI Practice partners with clients to unlock business value through intelligent use of data, advanced analytics, and applied AI. We work across the entire transformation journey — from vision and strategy through implementation and scaling — to deliver real business outcomes.

The Role

We are seeking an Associate Director of Data & AI to lead data and AI transformation programs for Canada’s leading enterprises.

This role requires a unique blend of business acumen, technical depth, and leadership capability. You will partner with C-suite and senior executives to define data and AI strategies, lead teams in building modern data platforms, and deliver end-to-end solutions spanning machine learning, generative AI, and emerging agentic AI applications.

You will drive both business growth and delivery excellence, ensuring Kyndryl’s Data & AI capabilities are positioned as a trusted enabler of business transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Business Leadership

  • Build trusted relationships with senior business and technology leaders to drive data and AI transformation agendas.

  • Translate client challenges into actionable data and AI strategies that deliver measurable business value.

  • Partner with account teams to identify, shape, and close new Data & AI opportunities.

Data Platform & AI Delivery Leadership

  • Lead design and implementation of modern data platforms (e.g., lakehouse, data fabric, data mesh) leveraging cloud-native architectures and hyperscaler technologies.

  • Oversee delivery of end-to-end engagements spanning data engineering, machine learning, generative AI, and intelligent automation.

  • Ensure engagement quality, business alignment, and client satisfaction across advisory and implementation phases.

AI Strategy & Innovation

  • Define enterprise AI strategies, including adoption of Generative AI and Agentic AI to enhance decision-making, operations, and customer experiences.

  • Lead initiatives to operationalize AI through MLOps, LLMOps, and governance frameworks.

  • Drive innovation through accelerators, reusable assets, and reference architectures that showcase Kyndryl’s technical leadership.

Practice Growth & Leadership

  • Collaborate with hyperscaler and ecosystem partners (Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, Databricks, Snowflake) to co-create and deliver modern AI solutions.

  • Mentor team members and cultivate a high-performing, innovation-driven culture.

  • Contribute to thought leadership, go-to-market offerings, and internal capability building.

Architecture Design & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of enterprise data and AI platforms using cloud-native and hybrid architectures.

  • Define end-to-end architectures that span data ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, ML/AI, and governance.

  • Establish architectural standards, patterns, and reference models for data modernization and AI enablement.

  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to data engineers, ML engineers, and solution developers.

Your Future at Kyndryl
Every position at Kyndryl offers a way forward to grow your career. We have opportunities that you won’t find anywhere else, including hands-on experience, learning opportunities, and the chance to certify in all four major platforms. Whether you want to broaden your knowledge base or narrow your scope and specialize in a specific sector, you can find your opportunity here.

Who You Are

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of experience leading data, analytics, and AI transformation programs within consulting, technology services, or enterprise organizations.

  • Proven experience building and modernizing data platforms on cloud ecosystems (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

  • Strong expertise in machine learning, generative AI (LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning), and emerging agentic AI applications.

  • Deep understanding of data strategy, architecture, governance, and engineering practices.

  • Demonstrated success in engaging business stakeholders and translating AI innovation into measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong sales and client engagement skills — ability to define value propositions and lead executive discussions.

  • Excellent communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management across business and technical domains.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in one or more industries such as Financial Services, Public Sector, Utilities, or Telecommunications.

  • Understanding of modern data architectures (data mesh, data fabric, lakehouse) and operational frameworks (MLOps/LLMOps).

  • Hands-on familiarity with AI ecosystems and tools (Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex AI, Databricks, Snowflake).

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or Business.

  • Prior consulting or practice leadership experience at a global technology or professional services firm.
