On-Call Clerk TEMPORARY TERM (10-Month) POSITION – until return of incumbent Monday to Friday, 06:30-14:00; must be flexible with start/end times As one of the largest, most progressive, urban districts in the province, Burnaby provides comprehensive educational programs and services to 41 elementary and 8 secondary schools, plus a number of additional facilities. The Burnaby School District is seeking a temporary On Call Clerk for the Board Office. The On-Call Clerk is responsible for filling daily vacancies by dispatching teachers and support staff replacements to meet the needs of the district. The On-Call Clerk enters a variety of data and generates reports. The On-Call Clerk performs general clerical duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Determines daily vacancies, selects and contacts appropriate replacements and confirms arrangements with schools for Teachers and support staff to meet the needs of the district Enters a variety of data from a variety of source materials and checks for accuracy and completeness. Maintains office records and produces related reports (e.g. teacher-on-call usage, teacher absenteeism, and other statistics). Performs a variety of general clerical duties. Operates a variety of office equipment. Performs related duties as required. Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. One year clerical work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience. Thorough knowledge of computer and software applications related to work performed. Sound knowledge of office procedures. Ability to communicate effectively at the level required for the job. Physical ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the job. Demonstrated ability to work at the level of independence and with the degree of initiative appropriate to the position. This is a 10-month position working 35 hours/week. Hours of work are Monday-Friday, 06:30-14:00, but candidate must be flexible with the start/end times. The hourly rate of pay is $33.52 per hour.
