At UBC, we believe that attracting and sustaining a diverse workforce is key to the successful pursuit of excellence in research, innovation, and learning for all faculty, staff, and students. Our commitment to employment equity helps achieve inclusion and fairness, brings rich diversity to UBC as a workplace, and creates the necessary conditions for a rewarding career.

JOB SUMMARY

The Campus Security Patrol Officer II is responsible and accountable for the safety and protection of persons and property of UBC. The role patrols the campus grounds and buildings for maximum safety and security visibility towards prevention, observation, and well-being for students, faculty, staff, and the UBC campus.

The role plays an integral role as UBC’s central point of contact in providing mobile response to all First Aid calls at the UBC Point Grey campus. A vital part of providing first aid will be to assess, treat, and provide recommendations to students, faculty, and staff within the scope of Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2.

Being part of the UBC Community Safety means joining a team that puts people first. We recognize that at the core of everything we do is a person. Our work is grounded in building meaningful relationships and the belief that a stronger community is a safer campus. Through trust, care, and shared responsibility, we remain present, responsive, and proactive in everything we do.

We work closely with the university community, along with internal and external partners, to help maintain a safe and welcoming place for everyone who studies, works, lives, and visits here. This is more than providing security services; it is about contributing to a fully integrated, connected campus where students, staff, faculty, and team members can thrive.

Joining our Patrol team means stepping into a role where your skills are valued and your well-being is supported and invested in. In addition to a competitive market rate and guaranteed wage progression, team members benefit from one of the strongest benefits packages in the sector. This includes double overtime pay, comprehensive medical, dental, and extended health coverage, life insurance, and a generous suite of paid leave provisions.

We also offer tuition benefits (12 credits per year, transferable to immediate family), a $1,000 annual professional development fund, and access to advanced training in areas such as mental health first aid, ASIST, threat assessment, and trauma-informed practice. With a robust pension plan and meaningful opportunities for growth, this is a workplace where skilled security professionals can build a long-term, rewarding career

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

The position reports directly to the Campus Security Patrol Shift Supervisor and takes guidance from the First Aid Program Advisor on matters related to compliance and oversight of UBC’s First Aid program.
