Your Opportunity:

AHS is seeking a motivated, self-directed Physiotherapist II (PTII) to support the Contracted Community Physiotherapy Program in a consultative, quality-focused role. This position supports contracted physiotherapy clinics, promoting alignment with AHS standards and contributing to quality assurance, program implementation, and service improvement. The PTII provides education, administrative mentorship, and clinical consultation on provincial standards, documentation, care pathways, and workflows. The role supports onboarding new providers and responds to clinical/operational inquiries, delivering timely, professional, service-oriented support. A key function includes reviewing & making clinical decisions on requests for physiotherapy services through information systems. The PTII applies eligibility criteria and advanced clinical reasoning to approve or deny requests, including complex cases, requiring strong expertise, sound judgment, and consistent decision-making. The position contributes to quality assurance activities, including audits, data analysis, and site visits, and supports implementation of standards and program initiatives. The PTII builds relationships with providers, identifies risks, and escalates issues. Strong customer service, communication, and professionalism are essential. The PTII maintains accurate records and analyzes data, including financial reporting, to identify errors, trends, and variances and inform decision-making. The role also supports evolving approaches to managing complex clients in community settings, including identifying gaps, contributing to workflow design, and supporting pilot initiatives. Direct complex client assessment is not currently routine but may evolve as service models develop. This role is ideal for a PT interested in system-level improvement, collaboration, and advancing quality of care.

Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:
