Job Summary

Full-time : 37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Friday

Location : Ottawa Office (5 days per week), 170 Laurier Ave West, Suite 310, K1P 5V5

Reporting To : vCFO

We are bringing our bookkeeping and accounting function in-house, and as such, we are seeking a motivated finance professional to lead this role. The Controller will report to the virtual CFO, with dotted-line reporting to the CEO. The role will encompass all aspects of accounting and finance associated with an early-stage technology venture, including payroll, bookkeeping, monthly closes, financial reporting, annual review / audit engagements, income and commodity tax returns, and customer engagement tracking and reporting.

As the first full-time finance role in a high-growth venture, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all the accounting-related functions of the Company, including, but not limited to, the following :

• Accounting and bookkeeping;
• Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes and related reporting;
• Payroll (performed monthly and includes both salaried and hourly employees);
• Customer engagement tracking, including determination of revenue recognition, following up on the collection of open invoices, and calculating / reporting on engagement profitability.
• Annual review or audit examination (August 31st year-end);
• Quarterly HST / GST / QST filings;
• Annual corporate income tax return, including T661 (SRED) claim;
• Working with the vCFO, preparation of the annual Corporate Budget and related multi-year financial projections; and,
• Other duties as assigned.
