As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in developing, managing, and enhancing our volunteer program across our Kelowna communities, fostering vibrant and supportive environments for seniors. About The Role You will work closely with chaplains, care teams, and local churches to coordinate volunteer placements that align with residents’ spiritual, physical, and social needs.

This role is centered around Christian ministry and leadership, requiring someone who embodies and promotes Baptist Housing’s Christian values of compassion, honesty, respect, innovation, stewardship, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities Volunteer Leadership & Christian Ministry: Demonstrate servant leadership by modeling Jesus Christ’s values in all interactions with volunteers, residents, and team members. Foster a culture of Christian values that aligns with the mission and vision of Baptist Housing. Provide one-on-one spiritual care, including prayers, devotionals, or worship activities, as needed. Volunteer Program Development: Design, implement, and evaluate volunteer programs to meet residents’ needs. Coordinate volunteer schedules and placements, ensuring seamless integration with care teams and chaplains. Provide regular reports on volunteer program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data analysis. Volunteer Recruitment & Screening: Recruit volunteers from local churches to provide spiritual care services, such as chapel services, Bible reading, prayer, and visitation. Oversee a thorough screening process, including reference checks, criminal record checks, and interviews. Promote volunteer opportunities through community outreach, newsletters, and media campaigns. Volunteer Training and Support: Orient and train volunteers on their roles, emphasizing Baptist Housing’s values, safety protocols, and resident care standards. Provide ongoing guidance, conflict resolution, and feedback to ensure volunteers are supported. Coordinate with chaplains to train spiritual care volunteers to meet residents’ spiritual needs. Volunteer Retention and Recognition: Plan and implement recognition events to celebrate volunteer contributions and foster retention. Analyze volunteer feedback and data to enhance program effectiveness and satisfaction. Recommend additional training or development opportunities to support volunteer growth. Team Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams to ensure volunteer placements complement holistic resident care. Promote a culture of health and safety by identifying hazards and enforcing safe practices in volunteer activities. Build strong relationships with internal teams, external partners, and local communities. Requirements Bachelor’s or post-secondary education in Social Sciences, Human Resources, Administration, Adult Education, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two years of experience in volunteer management or a related role, ideally in senior care or a faith-based setting. Valid First Aid Certificate ensuring the safety and well-being of residents. Access to personal transportation and willingness to travel between Kelowna-area communities. Signing and adherence to the Statement of Faith of Baptist Housing. About You You are a compassionate and dedicated Christian leader, passionate about serving seniors and supporting volunteer teams.

You align with Baptist Housing’s values and possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Your ability to inspire others through Christian ministry will help guide volunteers to provide exceptional care to our seniors, creating a nurturing and safe environment for all. Compensation & Benefits We offer an hourly wage between $28.00 - $30.00.

Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with a generous four weeks of vacation.
