Hello, I'm Julia. I'm looking for an experienced child-focused professional to partner with me in supporting my six-year-old son, Luke. Luke has been diagnosed with ADHD and learns differently than many children his age. Traditional school environments have been challenging for him, and I'm exploring a more individualized approach that allows him to develop the skills he needs while building on the qualities that make him unique. Luke is endlessly curious about the world around him. He asks questions constantly and loves discovering how things work. His interests often include nature, science, space, patterns, numbers, math, games, and exploring new ideas. He has an insatiable desire to learn and thrives when he has someone engaged alongside him in that process. While he is bright and eager to understand the world, he benefits from consistent one-on-one support. He can struggle with frustration tolerance, impulsivity, persistence through difficult tasks, and maintaining confidence when faced with challenges. He responds best to patient, calm, and consistent adults who can provide structure, guidance, encouragement, and opportunities to succeed. This role is not primarily about childcare, nor is it traditional academic tutoring. My goal is to find someone who genuinely enjoys child development and is interested in helping a young child build confidence, resilience, independence, and the skills needed to thrive both now and in the future. The ideal candidate may be an: RECE/ECE Educational Assistant (EA) Child and Youth Worker (CYW) Retired teacher Behavioural support worker Child development professional Individual with comparable experience supporting children with ADHD or related challenges The role may include: One-on-one learning and exploration Educational and strategy-based games Outdoor activities and community outings Library visits and hands-on experiences Following Luke's interests and curiosities Supporting executive functioning and independent living skills Building frustration tolerance, confidence, and resilience Collaborating with me to create an approach tailored to Luke's needs The position is intentionally flexible. Depending on the successful candidate, this may be a part-time or full-time opportunity. I have flexibility within my own work schedule and am prepared to adapt around the right person. My goal is not to hand responsibility over to someone else, but rather to create a collaborative partnership where we share responsibility for supporting Luke's growth and development. Experience with ADHD is strongly preferred. A valid driver's licence, reliable transportation, and a vulnerable sector check would be considered assets. This role requires a unique blend of experience, patience, creativity, and commitment. Compensation will reflect the successful candidate's experience, expertise, and level of involvement. For the right person, I am prepared to invest in building a meaningful long-term partnership in support of Luke's growth and development. Luke doesn't need someone to change who he is. He needs someone willing to meet him where he is, build on his strengths, and help him discover how to thrive. Location: Waterford, Ontario Start Date: Flexible Hours: Part-Time to Full-Time Depending on Candidate and Fit If this sounds like a role that aligns with your experience and interests, I'd love to hear from you.
