Summary
Reporting to the dealer principal, you are responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This covers the maintenance of a sufficient system of accounting records and generation of monthly financial reports. You will also be responsible for controls intended to enhance the precision of reported financial outcomes, mitigate and control risks. You will be working within internal control policies and procedures, and regulatory and financial reporting.
Essential Duties
- Plan, organize, control and assist in the operation of the accounting and finance functions along with assuring timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions across all departments.
- Responsible for all banking and financing activities, including reviewing all financial contracts, financing agreements and insurance policies.
- Develop, improve, and issue monthly and ad hoc financial records for senior management
- Drive process improvement to ensure overall efficiency and effectiveness of accounting team, as well as recommendations for improvements in other departments where applicable.
- Ensure all relevant and required policies and procedures are in place, communicated, understood, and adhered to and make recommendations for changes or improvements.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management to all staff and departments
- Assist with the orientation and training of new departmental staff, and ongoing training and development of existing staff. Oversee the development of individual goals and performance plans as required.
- Coordinate monthly close process and ensure accuracy and completeness of monthly and yearend financial reporting packages.
- Perform and oversee cash management functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, truck and trailer inventory management, as well as processing contracts and maintenance reporting for the rental fleet.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
Qualifications and Skills
CPA designation is preferred5+ years of relevant, focused, and progressively responsible experience and training.Proven senior leadership skills. Competent and confident operational and strategic manager.Proficient with computers with extensive experience with Microsoft Office. CDK Dealer accounting program – experience not required but being a quick learner to obtain strong working understanding is required.Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set priorities for self and others.Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative and innovative approach
