Salary : $55-80 per hour. The posted range reflects wages for a broad scope of experience, with starting pay determined based on education, qualifications, and experiences relevant to the role.

We are looking for a dedicated and diligent Vegetation Restoration Ecologist to join the Trinity Consultants Canada team. WONDERING WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR?

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Developing and implementing riparian and wetland habitat restoration and offset plans, and associated monitoring programs.
  • Leading and contributing to the design, planning, and execution of programs and studies focused on wetlands, riparian, and terrestrial ecosystems.
  • Summarizing and analyzing baseline environmental data to make defensible conclusions supported by scientific literature about the status of the environment, and predictions about potential effects of anticipated natural and anthropogenic influences.
  • Recommending mitigation measures and developing documents to communicate mitigation plans to a diverse audience.
  • Communicating program and study results to colleagues, clients, Indigenous and stakeholder groups, and regulators, through written reports, formal presentations, and conversation (e.g., regulatory permit applications).
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary teams, taking the lead on specific tasks, taking direction on others, and collaborating with colleagues to maximize work productivity and quality.
  • THE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Required Technical Qualifications and Skills :

  • B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D. in wetland and terrestrial ecology, or a related field of study.
  • R.P. Bio., or relevant professional designation, or eligible.
  • 5+ years of consulting or regulatory experience related to vegetation ecology.
  • Spatial data interpretation and analysis skills in ArcGIS.
  • Experience working in Canada and BCs regulatory environment for riparian and wetland permitting and protection (e.g., Fisheries Act, Water Sustainability Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Riparian Areas Protection Act ).
  • Experience assessing potential effects on riparian and wetland ecosystems and developing mitigation measures.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring riparian and wetland restoration projects.
  • General Qualifications and Skills :

  • Excellent technical writing skills, and demonstrated ability to produce high quality technical reports, management plans, effects assessments, and proposals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment, and independently.
  • Experience delegating work and desire to mentor junior staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality, excellence, and ethics.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • The following areas of expertise are considered assets for the position :

  • Bioterrain, soils, and vegetation community interpretation and mapping
  • Wetland delineation and function assessments
  • Rare plant identification
  • Invasive plant species identification and management
  • UAV (drone) data collection, processing, and interpretation
  • Remote sensing data interpretation
  • Experience and availability to conduct fieldwork safely in remote settings
