RESPONSIBILITIES
Health & Safety
Ensure that a plant wide safety program is in place and that all employees are carrying out their responsibilities as describedParticipate in accident and incident investigations and corrective actions are taken to prevent hazardous conditions and / or behaviorsEnsure that there is an established proactive safety program and that all safety rules policies and procedures are adhered toBusiness Development & Operational Strategy
Provide oversight and strategic direction to meet organizational objectives and ensure the fiscal health of the business unit.Develop business strategies to support the operational functions and ensure profitability.Understand marketplace competition and knowledge of existing and prospective customers.Set monitor and align business goals through the use Key Performance IndicatorsCollaborate with key stakeholders and project teams in the implementation of optimization projects specific to your unitPeople Management
Development of an employee-oriented culture that emphasizes safety quality continuous improvement retention employee development and high performance.Create a workplace culture that is consistent with the organizations vision and values.Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members that allows for differing ideas and concepts.Display exemplary leadership to support a team of direct reports comprised of Supervisory and Management staff and all other office and plant personnelConduct formal and informal performance feedback sessionsGeneral Plant Administration & Analysis Functions :
Ensure the execution of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and highlight areas for improvement with the unionEnsure that sufficient employee time supervisor support and funds are budgeted for safety equipment tools and training.Monitor inventoryChampion cost control initiatives including but not limited to Overtime direct labor fixed and variable costsManage Capital expendituresMaintain and analyze operational reports to identify gaps / operational needsBring out the best in yourself. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE & STRENGTHS
Proven troubleshooting ability with emphasis on safety continuous improvement reliability and quality.Leadership and a collaborative spirit that inspire and engage teams to achieve excellenceAbility to build relationships and foster trust with stakeholders at all business levelsSound judgment to ensure follow-up and effective implementation of solutions in accordance with company priorities to make appropriate decisionsStrong persuasiveness to foster maximum buy-in in a difficult contextStrong communication skills tact and diplomacyAbility to guide and coach team membersAbility to perform machining functions would be an assetWell organized.Must be aware of all safety standards and requirementsREQUIREMENTS
Bachelors degree in engineering Business or Operations preferredA combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a degree5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.Prior experience in the corrugated manufacturing industry a definite plus.Experienced with MS Office (Excel PowerPoint Word etc.)Cascades believes in the success of an inclusive organization that values diversity within its team.
