The Early Childhood Consultant (ECC) position is located in one of the five regional ECE offices and is responsible for (1) licensing eligible early childhood day care centres and day home programs in accordance with GNWT legislation, (2) promoting and supporting the development of quality early childhood programs in their region and throughout the NWT, and (3) supporting the GNWT’s mandate, goals and priorities.
In collaboration with the Early Childhood Development and Learning (ECDL) division, the ECC supports implementation of the GNWT’s mandate, goals and priorities. This may include leading and coordinating the design, development, implementation, in-service and evaluation of early childhood programs and services, as well as the development of curricula, resources and materials as required for the early childhood sector in the NWT to ensure that children receive high quality early childhood education that meets their needs.
The effective delivery of early childhood programs enhances the credibility of the Department and creates a positive image of the GNWT’s commitment to early childhood education.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by : A diploma in early childhood education and two (2) years of related work experience that includes teaching in or supervising a licensed early learning and child care program. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Salary Information
The salary range for this position is from $44.83 per hour to $53.55 per hour (approximately $87,419 - $104,423.) plus an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700.
