The Opportunity

We are seeking a Sales Development Representative — with a true Business Development mindset — a motivated hunter who thrives on identifying opportunities, opening doors, and building new relationships that fuel long-term growth.

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, as a Sales Development Representative , your role is to find and screen potential customers who could benefit from our customized manufacturing specialties and expertise. As a critical part of our sales team, you will work closely with Leadership, Senior Business Solutions Specialists, and the marketing team to attract high‑value prospects.

At Mitchell, we know that the key to growth is a high‑performing sales team. As the first line of communication with a prospect, the ideal SDR has a strong understanding of the sales process and excels at researching leads, starting new relationships, and setting up sales closers for success. The SDR should be a quick learner who has strong communication skills and an ability to showcase our solutions in a compelling fashion. Every potential customer is an opportunity for boosting top‑line revenue growth, customer acquisition levels, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly articulate Mitchell’s value proposition—technology, sustainability, workflow sophistication, and quality—to differentiate in competitive markets.
  • Understand Mitchell's core strengths—inclusive of unique to Western Canada; heat set web, sheetfed, digital, data‑driven communication workflows, bindery, and distribution—and leverage them to benefit both our client and Mitchell.
  • Lead first‑touch conversations, discovery sessions, solution presentations, and proposal engagements.
  • Execute prospecting initiatives and maintain a healthy, active pipeline within our internal CRM and MIS systems.
  • Identify best practices for utilization and refinement of the company’s lead‑generation playbook.
  • Track 60+ phone calls and 40+ emails daily to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Build long‑term, trusting relationships with prospects to qualify leads as sales opportunities.
  • Proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.
  • Work closely with Sales Leadership to prioritize sectors and align business development strategies.
  • Maintain strong communication on job requirements, timing, and unique considerations to ensure client success.
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams regarding project requirements, timelines, and special considerations.
  • Meet or exceed monthly / quarterly / annual sales targets through disciplined pipeline execution.
  • Represent Mitchell at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build visibility and pipeline momentum.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Proven success in Business Development or Hunter‑style B2B sales role.
  • Highly self‑motivated, competitive, and driven to exceed goals.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and proposal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and sales cycles simultaneously.
  • Curious, fast learner with strong technical aptitude and willingness to understand printing and communication workflows.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; ability to adopt new technology, CRM systems, and sales enablement tools such as HubSpot.
  • A team player who excels independently while embracing a collaborative culture.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Sales & Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • Graphic Communications Management graduate (TMU / Ryerson or equivalent).
  • Experience in print, marketing communications, packaging, or agency environments (asset).
