We are looking for an Accountant to join a leasing organization in North York, Ontario on a Contract basis. In this role, you will contribute to day-to-day accounting operations by supporting invoice processing, reconciliations, expense analysis, and month-end activities. The successful candidate brings solid technical accounting knowledge, strong Excel capabilities, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced team environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full intake of supplier and manufacturer invoices, including review, coding, verification, and entry into the accounting system.
• Match billing documents against purchase orders, investigate irregularities, and follow up on pricing or invoice concerns as needed.
• Administer payment activities such as urgent cheque preparation, scheduled cheque runs, and remittance processing within required timelines.
• Reconcile vendor statements, electronic payment accounts, sublet schedules, and other accounts payable records to maintain accurate balances.
• Record financial activity in journals, ledgers, and related accounting records while supporting daily deposit postings.
• Coordinate corporate credit card statement processing by collecting receipts, organizing supporting documents, and preparing items for payment.
• Assist with month-end close by posting expenses, analyzing account activity in Excel, and tracking prepaid and accrual balances.
• Prepare audit support materials, balance intercompany accounts on a monthly basis, and generate regular financial reports for management.
• Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve invoice discrepancies, answer inquiries, and maintain smooth payment operations.
• Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
• Practical understanding of the full accounting cycle and core accounting principles.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, with advanced working ability in Excel.
• Hands-on experience with accounting software, including ADP; familiarity with Reynolds & Reynolds or similar ERP platforms is considered an asset.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond professionally to vendors and colleagues.
• Automotive accounting experience is an asset.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
