Project Manager

MatchBox Consulting Group is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join a dynamic civil construction team based in East Vancouver. This role offers the chance to lead multiple land development and utility upgrade projects across the Lower Mainland while collaborating closely with senior leadership.

This is an opportunity to oversee complex civil projects, contribute to strategic project planning, and drive profitable outcomes in a supportive, team-based environment. You’ll work with a highly skilled internal team while developing client relationships and shaping project execution across the region. Key Responsibilities:

• Manage project controls, forecasting, cost management, and contingency planning to achieve project profitability.
• Lead procurement and negotiations with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Provide technical direction during pre-construction and construction phases.
• Coordinate project teams, ensuring schedules, permits, licenses, and safety standards are maintained.
• Monitor and report on project progress, costs, and risk, including monthly forecasts and project debriefs.
• Facilitate change orders, extra work, and commercial contract management.
• Foster positive client, consultant, and stakeholder relationships.
• Lead project closeout procedures, including contract finalization and claim resolution.
• Uphold company values and policies across all project activities.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience in civil construction, including earthworks, roadbuilding, excavation, shoring, and underground utilities.
• Proven project leadership with strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to collaborate with staff, clients, and stakeholders in a people-focused, open-door environment.
• Software proficiency: HCSS Suite, Bluebeam, Agtek, Spectrum, MS Project, Adobe, Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of unionized labor environments is an asset.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Post-secondary degree in Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering preferred.
