Senior Accountant

Our client is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their growing organization on a 6-week contract. They are currently in the middle of a new system implementation, and bringing in additional support would help alleviate some of the workload from their current Senior Accountant team member and ensure day-to-day responsibilities continue to be managed effectively throughout the implementation process.

Responsibilities:

• Inventory & Cost Accounting: Oversee standard costing models, calculate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), track direct labor and overhead allocations, analyze manufacturing variances (purchase price, labor efficiency, material yield), and lead annual physical inventory counts and cycle count audits.
• Month-End & Year-End Close: Lead the financial close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, complex accruals, prepaids, fixed asset depreciation, and intercompany eliminations; ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform and review monthly reconciliations for key accounts—including inventory, AP/AR, accrued expenses, bank accounts, and debt facilities—to ensure financial integrity.
• Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement); generate variance reporting comparing actual performance against budget and historical trends.
• Fixed Asset Management: Track capital expenditures (CapEx), maintain fixed asset ledgers for plant machinery, equipment, and facilities, and manage asset depreciation schedules and disposals.
• Tax & Audit Compliance: Prepare schedules and documentation for external financial audits, manage state/local tax compliance (sales and use tax, property tax), and support annual tax returns.
• Internal Controls & Process Improvement: Design, implement, and maintain internal accounting controls (SOX-equivalent standard practices); optimize ERP system workflows to improve close efficiency and automation.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years experience as a Senior Accountant
• Manufacturing or construction experience preferred
• CPA not required but ideal
• Experience with ERP implementation is a plus.
