- Be aware of any allergies a student may have.
- Establish clear instructional direction to support a positive learning climate in the context of the Denesuline culture and language.
- Offer students the opportunity to interact with peers and learn social skills, learn school routines, and build a strong foundation for further success in school.
- Required to plan and organize materials ahead of time so when the student arrive, the room and the Educators are ready to engage with student.
- Provide positive ways for family engagement for learning success and provide a welcoming space that draws parents into the classroom.
- Assess and document student learning daily.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Must be patient, flexible, observant, and passionate.
- Must have communications skills such as : verbal and nonverbal, active listening, and empathy.
- Must have strong understanding of Effective Practices, Policies and Guidelines, and Saskatchewan Curriculum.
- To follow the provincial Ministry of Education curricula and focuses on holistic child development including the social-emotional, physical, intellectual, and spiritual domains.
- Actively engage with families, children, and community members to understand their backgrounds and experiences to support an equitable and inclusive school environment.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office, school-based staff, students, parents and community.
- Maintain confidentiality of students and other professional informationQualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent.
- Must be eligible for or posses a valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate.
- Experience in teaching First Nations students at a remote community would be an asset.
- First Aid Certification would be an asset
