Your role

As Senior Advisor, Indigenous Office, you will report to the Senior Director, Indigenous Office within Corporate Development. You will play a key role in advancing the National Indigenous Strategy, supporting priority initiatives across the Corporation, and strengthening relationships with Indigenous Peoples, Nations, and organizations.

You will work across departments and regions to advise, implement, and coordinate strategic actions that align with the four pillars of the Strategy : Relationships, People, Narratives, and Truth & Reconciliation. You will lead engagement efforts, contribute to internal policy development, and serve as a trusted advisor on matters related to Indigenous inclusion, equity, and sovereignty in media.

As Senior Advisor, Indigenous Office your responsibilities include :

Strategy Implementation Lead :

Plan, lead, and organize discussions, meetings, presentations, events and other activities related to the Implementation and evolution of the National Indigenous Strategy in collaboration with internal teams, and external partners.

Project Coordination :

Provide logistical and organizational support for key projects and initiatives that align with the Objectives and Actions of the National Indigenous Strategy, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and outcomes are met.

Action deployment and oversight :

Propose and oversee the deployment of relevant initiatives and commitments in alignment with the National Indigenous Strategy, across the organization.

Budgeting and Reporting :

Ensure effective tracking and reporting on project budgets, progress, implementation of the National Indigenous Strategy, and other relevant areas as required.

Measurement :

Develop and update relevant indicators for measuring our performance and progress with regard to the National Indigenous Strategy and relevant Indigenous Office programs. Plan evaluation strategies to measure the effectiveness and outcomes of initiatives

Collaborate with internal teams across News, English and French Services, People & Culture, and Corporate Strategy to embed Indigenous perspectives.

Conduct research, draft briefing notes, and prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives and Indigenous partners.

Help develop and nurture reciprocal relationships with a wide assortment of Indigenous communities, governments, organizations and media partners

Help coordinate national and regional consultations with Indigenous Peoples to inform policy and program decisions.

Provide strategic advice to senior leaders and contribute to strategic planning, reporting, and priority setting related to the National Indigenous Strategy.

Support planning and execution of events, projects, and campaigns aligned with Indigenous initiatives and cultural protocols.

Track progress on key actions and support the development of internal progress reports and annual summaries.

Prepare and present relevant materials for the Corporate Development Team, Strategy Teams, Senior Executive Team, Board of Directors, and other key internal stakeholders.

Monitor trends and developments in Indigenous governance, media, and public policy to inform internal decision-making.

Participate on various cross-functional working groups, committees, and external events as required.

Your profile

University degree or equivalent experience in Indigenous studies, public policy, communications, journalism, administration, or a related field.

Strong understanding of Indigenous governance systems, rights frameworks (including UNDRIP), and historical and contemporary issues.

Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic advisory roles, preferably with a focus on Indigenous affairs, media, or public institutions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French. Knowledge of an Indigenous language is a strong asset.

Demonstrated experience working respectfully and effectively with Indigenous communities and organizations.

Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Ability to organize, set agendas, manage, and lead meetings (in-person and virtual settings).

A collaborative mindset and the ability to build trust across diverse teams and cultural contexts.

Comfortable dealing with senior levels of authority, both internally and externally.

Comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative research materials.

Ability to develop persuasive arguments and influence decision-makers.

Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate discussions, meetings, and events in multiple time zones.

Some travel within Canada (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Indigenous communities).
