YOUR ROLE

  • Takes a holistic approach to providing an array of services that are customized to each individual’s unique needs, method of communication, and goals to increase their independence and enrich their life;
  • Advocates on behalf of individuals and their unique needs and goals;
  • Demonstrates professionalism with colleagues, family members / guardians, and in the community;
  • As a communication partner, use as many methods of communication needed to facilitate the exchange of information (ASL, SEE, LSQ, etc.);
  • Follows all medical treatment and procedures outlined by health care professionals and completes required documentation;
  • Embodies the philosophy of ‘do with not for’; assists people supported in realizing their potential;
  • Prepares and / or assists with meal preparation and healthy food choices according to specific dietary requirements;
  • Implements behavioral strategies outlined by behavioral professionals, including tracking and reporting;
  • Provides personal care as required (e.g. lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, etc.);
  • Assists people supported with managing personal finances, budgeting, and maintaining up-to-date financial records;
  • Believes in the organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic direction and provides the highest quality of service.
  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 1-year post-secondary education;
  • Up to one year of related work experience;
  • Commitment to engage in training to build specialized skills, competency, and knowledge in sensory loss;
  • A valid G Driver's License is an asset.
