Senior Structural Engineer - Ports and Marine

Job Description Overview

AtkinsRéalis Ports & Marine team in Canada looking for a Senior Marine Structural Engineer (Principal) - Ports and Marine to join their growing team. This position reports to the Ports & Marine Team Lead – Western Canada. As a Senior Engineer your primary role will be to manage and deliver marine infrastructure projects for our clients. Our teams make a real difference to communities and markets by connecting waterways and sea safely and efficiently. You’ll gain expertise in all aspects of this sector, from waterfront development to foreshore rehabilitation, terminals and facilities to asset management and assessments.

Location : This role will be based anywhere in Canada, preferably in British Columbia, Ontario, or the Maritimes.

Your role

Liaise with Clients on existing projects and pursuing new project opportunities;

Provide leadership and direction to Junior Engineers and / or Technicians and maintaining good working relationships with internal project support groups;

Work collaboratively to assist other project team members, and to incorporate input from other parts of the business on multi-disciplinary projects;

Analyze and design of marine structures including Concrete caisson wharf, Open Berth structures, berthing and mooring dolphins, access trestles, jetties, sheet pile bulkhead wharf, walls and wood cribs wharf;

Preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for ports and marine work packages;

Development of conceptual options, preliminary designs, engineering sketches to support feasibility studies and condition assessment and load rating analysis of existing structures;

Coordinate drawing development with other technical staff, completing drawing reviews and Preparation of written deliverables such as reports and technical notes;

Review project documentation to check clarity, accuracy, consistency in presentation, and compliance with project specifications and applicable standards;

Manage project scope, schedule, finances, and undertaking site inspections for existing structures and current construction projects;

About you

Holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;

Is registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC; registration in any other Canadian province is considered an asset, and PE licensure in the United States is also highly desirable;

Has a minimum of 15 years’ experience in design of marine infrastructure;

Is familiar with marine design codes, standards, and structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000 or similar;

Has a functional understanding of typical marine design considerations for steel and concrete structures, soil / structure interaction and marine environmental loading;

Fluent in English with excellent written and oral communication.

Expected compensation for this role is between Pay Range $114,800 - $157,900 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
