Purpose :

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for a broad array of operational duties including, but not limited to, trade life cycle Management, Trade Control and Client Service related tasks.

Assistant Managers are expected to be individual performers, delivery top quality output, and supporting the Manager in daily activities and on any projects. Incumbents may be asked to instruct or guide junior members of the team and support the manager in performance management duties.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will :

  • Trade Life Cycle Support - Supporting various sales and trading FX and Commodity desks, ensure all transactions move successfully through their processing life cycle. The trade support will span several specific functions from nettings, allocations, trade novation and corrections and problem resolution. Input of retail Sundry trade and processing of drawdowns.
  • Support Front-office and client related queries - manage and co-ordinate (when applicable) all front office trading and sales along with client / counterparty queries that relate to trade processing and the initial on-boarding / enablement and on-going maintenance.
  • Management of interface mapping across the wide variety of internal / external FICC trading platforms - Assist with the initial interface mapping required for the straight-through-processing of transactions and ensure mappings are maintained on a go-forward basis.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Onboarding of web users on ScotiaRed.
  • Champions a culture of continuous operational improvement by independently resolving highly complex, multi-faceted problems to meet the business needs across MO with a specific focus on creating tangible / measurable operational efficiencies. This involves opportunity identification, preparing proposals, defining business requirements and processes, developing, testing, conversion and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, monitoring progress against planned objectives, and securing consensus and co-operations from users and senior management.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML / ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML / ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have :

  • Experience in industry or academia in the areas of capital markets, finance and banking.
  • Solid knowledge / experience in operations and Trade Lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge of Excel - Macros and VBA preferred
  • Work Arrangement : This position is currently a Hybrid role. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
