The Valleyfield plant offers an excellent opportunity for a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator. The role of the HSE Coordinator is all about leadership. The successful candidate will accept responsibility for advocating efforts to create and maintain an environment that promotes, encourages and requires all employees, at all levels of the organization, to be involved in the pursuit of the goal of Zero Accidents.
Responsibilities
- Ensures that all conditions of the permit are met in accordance with the schedule or other formal tool. This includes overseeing or carrying out activities such as routine sampling, reporting, record keeping and audits.
- Report all environmental non-conformances in a timely manner through appropriate channels.
- Develop site skills and capabilities.
- Coach, influence and guide plant leadership from a safety perspective.
- Lead the training programme in a coordinated effort with plant personnel.
- Continuously reinforce the company's safety position and always recognise employees' achievements and contributions.
- Identify risk conditions through incident investigation, trend data, employee collaboration and design review of all new equipment and apply appropriate hazard analysis methods.
- Proactively and assertively drive overall risk reduction measures through data collection and risk analysis.
- Establish and achieve aggressive personal and site goals consistent with Division and Owens Corning goals. These goals should reflect our commitment to improving our safety culture and implementing a world class safety management process.
- As a member of the site management team, participate in and drive corporate HSE initiatives.
- Implement safety programmes / standards and site-specific safety programmes designed to reduce employee injury and illness and improve site productivity.
- Ensure that occupational illnesses and injuries are immediately reported, thoroughly investigated (root cause analysis) and promptly addressed in accordance with company standards and requirements.
Qualifications
Educational background in Health, Safety & Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene or any other relevant field.Fluency in spoken and written English.Experience in a leadership role in Health & Safety or in an industrial environment an asset.Available to travel occasionally.Working knowledge of health and safety regulations and industrial hygiene protocols.Ability to identify gaps and develop appropriately prioritised action plans.Ability to effectively engage employees.Ability to promote a team environment and initiate, lead and complete team projects.Ability to deliver safety training.Highly ethical : can be trusted to do only the 'right thing' for employees and others, takes a balanced approach without compromising integrity.Results-driven : energetic, resourceful, with a strong service orientation and positive attitude.
