Responsibilities
Oversee general day‑to‑day arena operations including maintaining the ammonia refrigeration plant and performing general custodial duties for a twin‑sheet arena.Perform general ice maintenance : operating ice resurfacing equipment, power edging, hand edging, ice measurements, installing and removing ice / related marks, and maintaining quality ice surfaces.Complete preventative maintenance, handle custodial tasks and minor construction projects, ensure building security, and maintain detailed operational records.Follow all safety procedures, enforce facility rules, handle hazardous materials safely, and ensure a clean, safe environment.Assist with event setups, support junior staff and new team members, and deliver courteous public service in compliance with CWK policies and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.Ideal Candidate
Refrigeration Operator Certificate (RO) and Arena Ice Maker’s certificate (or equivalent).At least two years of relevant experience.Strong knowledge of arena refrigeration systems, ice resurfacing, building maintenance, and safety protocols including WHMIS, emergency procedures, and janitorial best practices.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and DDC building controls.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.Ability to work independently, interact professionally with the public, and adapt to flexible schedules.Additional assets : Forklift certification and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.Applications are accepted online at westkelownacity.ca / jobs .
