As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications :
Equivalent Medical Laboratory Assistant program is defined as completion of a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) and Combined Laboratory and Xray Technologist (CLXT) program in Canada; completion of a Medical Lab Technician / Technologist program outside of Canada; and MLT and CLXT students who have completed their phlebotomy training / rotation. Applicants with a high school diploma may be considered. Upon hired, you will be required to complete on-the-job phlebotomy training provided by APL at no cost, and formal training courses offered by SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) or NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology). The costs associated with these formal training courses will be your responsibility. You will be required to complete these training requirements within your probationary period, as per the Health Sciences Association of Alberta (HSAA) collective agreement. Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
Preferred Qualifications :
At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience. ECG experience.
